At J.Wood Leathers, the people behind the business are just as important as the products themselves. From customer service to marketing, every member of the team plays a part in delivering the quality and experience our customers know us for.

In this Employee Spotlight, we caught up with Millie Bradley, our Customer Service Assistant & Marketing Coordinator, to talk about joining the business, balancing a dual role, and what she enjoys most about working at J. Wood Leathers

Starting the journey

Millie joined J. Wood Leathers in November and quickly became part of the team.

“I felt welcomed straight away, and I’ve enjoyed being involved in different areas of the business from early on.”

The combination of customer service and marketing was what first attracted her to the role.

“I’ve always enjoyed working with people, but I also like the creative side of marketing, so having a role that combines both felt like a really good fit for me.”

No two days are the same

One of the things Millie enjoys most is the variety her role brings day to day.

From helping customers with enquiries and orders to working on content, campaigns, and creative projects, every day looks a little different.

“Some days are heavily focused on customer service, while other days are more focused on the wider marketing side of things.”

She’s also become well acquainted with persuading the rest of the team to appear in social content.

“I’m usually trying to get people involved in posts, which means regularly going into the warehouse and convincing someone to be on camera for five minutes.”

Learning the leather industry

Like many people entering the leather trade for the first time, there was a lot to learn in the beginning.

“At first it felt a bit overwhelming trying to learn all the different ranges, types of leather, and what each one is best used for, but over time it started to click.”

Since joining, Millie has developed a deeper understanding of both the industry and customer expectations, while also learning how to balance multiple responsibilities across the business.

A supportive team environment

When asked about the team at J. Wood Leathers, Millie highlighted the supportive atmosphere across the business.

“Everyone is really friendly and approachable, and there’s always someone willing to help if you need it. It just makes it a really supportive place to work.”

She was also surprised by how quickly she was trusted with responsibilities and involved in projects from the start.

“I was involved from the beginning, which helped me settle in quickly and feel part of the team straight away.”

Looking ahead

Looking to the future, Millie is excited to continue developing the creative side of her role, particularly around content creation and campaigns.

“I want our marketing to better reflect what goes on behind the scenes and keep customers engaged with the business.”

She’s particularly interested in showcasing more of the people behind J. Wood Leathers and giving customers a better sense of the business beyond the products themselves.

What makes J. Wood Leathers stand out?

For Millie, the answer comes down to care and attention to detail.

“There’s a real team effort to make sure customers receive the best possible service and experience, and I think that’s something customers really notice.”

It’s a mindset that runs throughout the business – from customer service and marketing to sourcing products and supporting customers every day.

Outside of work

When she’s not at J. Wood Leathers, Millie enjoys socialising, keeping busy, and, by her own admission:

“Shopping… probably a bit too much.”

At J. Wood Leathers, we’re proud of the people who help make the business what it is. Millie’s enthusiasm, creativity, and customer first attitude have already made a huge impact, and we’re excited to see what she’ll continue to bring to the team in future.
